The Line: "Walter always said that the chief thing that separates us from God is the thought that we are separate from him. But really, at the moment, that sounded to her like a bunch of bullshit" (49).

An ex-monk, a gay
priest, and a crazed new mom meet
in a bar: who pays?

Comments:
They all end up paying in the end.

this book disappointed me. it took about fifteen minutes to read, and it just dipped its little baby toe in the whole sex-religion-mommy thing.

I hear you, Lixxx! Are Steinke's other books like this (handling large issues lightly)? I want more of the mother, for obvious reasons (she's crazy!).

have you read jesus saves? she has a kind of casualness (re: large issues handled lightly), but somehow it's much deeper and more satisfying... i was really excited about milk, but when i was done, it was gone.
