I empathized with
the blind pair: one black, one white,
but not knowing which.
 
Comments:
This is one of the only books I can honestly say I actively disliked the entire time I was reading it. But I don't remember why that is.
 
The narrator is pretty unlikable. More accurately: He's a dweeb. A peckerhead. And the whole "leave me and I lose myself" hyper-pathos was sort of too familiar for me to find pleasurable (having been that guy in the past).

Until the last few pages, I felt the same way as you. Then something happened, I gave in, I guess. [Insert that song "Sweet Surrender" here]
